Zoca’s Rise: How Rohit Tandon and Karan Makan Excelled in Adapting to Trends for Unmatched Success

The brand story started In 2009, after coming back from london Mr Tandon decided to kick start his own business with Rs. 10 lakh. He founded Yummy Tummy, a catering company for businesses, which rode the wave of corporate culture in the food industry. Partnering with companies like American Express and Genpact, Yummy Tummy started in a small space in DLF Limited Phase-3, gurgaon, serving 300-400 meals daily and making about Rs. 17-18 lakh a year within two years. By 2015, Yummy Tummy became a big player, serving 6000 meals daily with an annual turnover of Rs. 5 crore. In 2016, Rohit left Yummy Tummy and teamed up with Karan to start Fraterniti Foods in 2017.

They both started with their first venture, China Box, tapped into the rising Chinese café culture in india, growing to 15 outlets by 2019. Realizing the focus on Chinese food was limiting, they introduced a cloud kitchen model with a variety of dishes. In 2020, they came up with zoca, a café offering indian, chinese, and continental cuisine. The name was spontaneously chosen at the China Box branch in Malviya Nagar delhi.

The purpose of the name zoca was catchy and also easy to remember, and then zoca opened its first outlets in Vikaspuri and Indirapuram in January 2022, and by 2023, it had expanded to over 130 outlets pan india with launching its brand extensions diner & courtyard and that’s how they created zoca as a “growing café chain of india” which also helped Fraterniti foods to forge its identity as a major player in the Food & Beverage sector.
